Founder and director of Redcliff, Michael Humphries, has over 30 years’ experience as a business development executive in the international oil & gas industry, a senior oil & gas investment banker and as a company director. He began his career in 1982 in the international division of Britoil Plc before moving into investment banking with Samuel Montagu & Co in London and New York, Rothschild and Ferris Baker Watts in Washington DC.

From 2007 to 2014 Michael ran his own consulting firm advising and managing on a broad range of international upstream oil & gas transactions. In late 2014 he was recruited by Rand Merchant Bank to establish an oil & gas advisory business based in London. In January 2019, after advising on several high profile sub-Saharan Africa transactions and having successfully built the team and the oil & gas advisory practice, Michael left to re-establish Redcliff.
