The drive to net zero: has the oil & gas industry got what it takes?
14 December 2020
Hosted by Stuart Gregg, Oil & gas Innovation Director, Axora

On 10 December, Axora hosted a webinar to discuss whether the oil & gas industry has what it takes to reach net-zero.
Stuart sets the scene of the discussion by describing the trilemma that hydrocarbons are facing. COVID 19 and the demand crash, followed by the falling oil price – will the change that has been forced on society be indefinite, what will the new normal look like? Alongside this we see the rising efficiency and tumbling cost of renewables putting pressure on the hydrocarbons industry.
The panel of experts discuss Governments role in creating clear legislation, the need for O&G companies to be profitable so that they can invest in net zero, being willing to fail and adopting an agile approach to innovation, technology, attracting the right talent and more

In lieu of direct US-influence, corporate actors have been lobbying South American governments to expand and liberalise their energy sectors with the intention of developing competitive markets in the natural gas and renewable energy generation sectors. read more
